Inquiry

Alphington Primary School’s student work demonstrates our strategic intent of Choice, Challenge and Pace to personalise learning for diverse student needs. Using an Inquiry approach children are encouraged to explore their curiosity, empowering self directed learning. APS promotes learning confidence through student voice and differentiated activities that cater for individual learning needs.

In the senior years students are engaged in community based inquiry projects. Our Year 5s form Philanthropy Groups and our Year 6s work in Action Teams. The focus of these is largely student directed, making the learning purposeful, engaging and relevant. Recent examples include...
  • Organising a tea and biscuits drive for the Refugee Centre
  • Collecting toiletries to support the homeless
  • Producing and selling a calendar to raise funds for Hope Vale
  • Running the school canteen
Inspiring learning, creativity and excellence for our future.
Kindness, resilience, integrity, curiosity and respect are embedded in all aspects of life at Alphington Primary School and truly support our endeavour to assist students to be outstanding in all that they do. Students develop social skills such as understanding what it means to be a good friend and how to care for and work with others.
