The school is set amidst residential streets in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne and is a vibrant focal point for the community it serves. The safe and aesthetically pleasing environment is made up of flexible learning spaces and child friendly play areas. Classrooms are technology rich with interactive whiteboards, individual netbooks in the senior school and iPads in junior classes, fostering student engagement in learning. Alphington Primary School’s $3m Building project was completed in 2011 and includes five new classrooms and a Great Space. The Great Space enables collaborative learning for students with a senior library and science/discovery facilities accessible to students throughout the day. Construction of a new Arts Library Discovery Centre and an internal link way to the new classrooms was completed in 2011. Students enjoy this creative space and access to the junior library in a similar manner to the Great Space.
